Tampere urban region outdoor and hiking map service
Outdoorstampereregion.fi is a browser-based map service that brings outdoor and hiking services within everyone’s reach. The service presents the Tampere urban region’s hiking trails, beaches, campfire sites, and other outdoor-related services and destinations, across municipal borders.
The starting point of the service has been to gather all the hiking services and destinations in Tampere, Kangasala, Lempäälä, Nokia, Orivesi, Pirkkala, Vesilahti, and Ylöjärvi into one place, which anyone can use freely and without charge.
In addition to free services, the map will also include other services essential for local tourism, such as Nysse bus stops and parking lots, the use of which may be subject to a fee.

Hiking etiquette
Hiking etiquette is a simple set of guidelines that ensures a fair and enjoyable nature experience for all users of hiking areas and services. Hiking etiquette is based on five main themes that guide respect for nature, walking on trails, camping, making fires, and litter-free hiking.
Take control of the aspects of responsible and nature-respecting hiking by familiarizing yourself with hiking etiquette and everyman’s rights on the Hiking etiquette page.

Kintulammi hiking and nature reserve
Kintulammi is a wonderful hiking and nature reserve located in Tampere, in the Teisko-Aitolahti area. It is an open-to-all nature and hiking destination with trails, boardwalks, shelters, and signposts. The area is located approximately 20 km northeast of the center of Tampere.

Hervantajärvi hiking area
Hervantajärvi’s versatile hiking area is located right next to the city of Tampere and offers a great setting for, among other things, walking, skiing, mountain biking and trail running. The routes in the area naturally lead south to Viitasenpera, Tampere, Lempäälä and Kangasala’s “three-municipal border”.

Campfire sites in Tampere
Ekokumppanit has already implemented nearly 30 campfire sites in the Tampere region that are free for everyone to use. The campfire sites are placed in such a way that they offer an opportunity to take a break and warm up in the most beautiful places on the hiking trails, without causing harm to nature. You don’t make a fire anywhere other than the designated fire places.

The kayaking services of Pyhä and Näsijärvi
Kayaking services on Tampere’s wonderful lakes have been developed significantly in recent years. In both Pyhä and Näsijärvi you can now find wonderful kayaking routes with amazing lake views and services. On the Näsijärvi side, several service facilities and campfire sites are located on the shores of Kaup recreation forest and are also accessible by land. In Pyhäjärvi, you can find suitable services for kayakers in Viikinsaari, Lehtisaari and Saunasaari, among others. Welcome to explore Tampere’s great lakes for paddling!

Mountain biking in Tampere
Tampere has invested in the development of mountain biking for a long time, but the actual routes have been waiting until these days. In December 2022, Tampere’s first year-round mountain bike route between Kauppi and Niihama was opened. In the future, it is planned to implement more routes.

Kiimajoki canoeing route
The Kiimajoki canoeing route is the secret gem of Teisko in Tampere. Already implemented at the beginning of the millennium, the route runs through the scenic landscapes of Velaattajärvi and Terälahti, offering paddlers versatile conditions and experiences. The approximately 16-kilometer-long route has been implemented in the river sections on an old log swimming bank, which reminds of the history of the area stretching back to the 18th century and the time when the entire construction of Tampere on the banks of Tammerkoski was heavily dependent on timber brought along the waterways.

Accessible destinations
In recent years, Tampere has also invested in providing accessible nature services, so that everyone would have the opportunity to enjoy the unique nature experiences of our nearby nature. In the Kintulammi hiking area, a barrier-free route has been implemented up to the unique Kirkkokivi laavu, and the Tohlopi nature trail offers a completely barrier-free option.
Ekokumppanit will continue to actively develop the city’s accessible nature services in 2023 as well.

Tampere - Movement in nature
