Mountain biking in Tampere
Tampere has invested in the development of mountain biking for a long time, but the actual routes have been waiting until these days. In December 2022, Tampere’s first year-round mountain bike route between Kauppi and Niihama was opened. In the future, it is planned to implement more routes.

Kauppi mountain bike route
Area: Kauppi
Equipment: Tapatora's fire place and a lighter. Niihama lodge: fireplace, cafeteria, toilet. Parking lots Kaupinoja P-area and Niihama maja P-area.
Route length: 10.8 km. Pirunvuori loop: 5.6 km, green (break point: Tapatora 2.5 km)
Niihama loop: 10.2 km, blue (break points: Tapatora 2.5 km, Niihama maja 5.5 km)

Additional information: Official departure point: Kaupinpuistonkatu 1, 33520 Tampere, next to the bus turnaround. Both mountain biking routes are mostly challenging in terms of terrain, and may not be suitable for beginners. The route has rhizomes and rocks, some wetlands, and bridge structures. The rocks and rhizomes are very slippery in the rain and ice. In winter with a lot of snow, the paths become easy to walk when there are enough walkers. The route is marked on the terrain with a blue cyclist sign. The Pirunvuori loop is marked with green arrows, the Niihama loop with blue ones. The routes are year-round, and you can ride them in either direction. The recommended driving direction is clockwise. Please pay attention to all warning signs: track crossings, road crossings and other warnings in winter! Please also pay attention to other people on the route - there are also walkers on the paths!
